The early development of Taipei city began Dadaocheng area because all the goods from China offload at Dadaocheng Wharf and send to Dihua street for sale. This neighborhood is the very first business district of Taipei and was once the most popular area of Taipei. However, Dadaocheng Wharf was inoperative and declined because of the sediment of the Tamsui River for decades until the Taipei government decides to transfer this wharf into a fascinating market by the Tamsui River.

Dadaocheng Wharf is rebranded as Pier 5

Dadaocheng Wharf located in the end of Minsheng West Road. If you take Taipei Metro Red Line, just get off at Shauanglian station (R12) and walk or ride a bike toward west for 1.5km. You will see the gate of Dadaocheng Wharf.

The fascinating attraction of Pier 5 is its scenery. You can see the skyline of the New Taipei City at the other side of the Tamsui River. The scene in the evening is breath-taken. You can enjoy the view and feel the breeze on your face with a glass of the beer. Do I mention the beer? Yes! There are a dozen food stands inside the wharf serving drinks and snakes. You can enjoy food and scene with your friends!
